Power Ball 2017: Inside Toronto’s Most Stylish Art Party

In a sense, all parties paint an swap reality. One where people are some-more engaged, fervent to sing or dance, and expected improved dressed. Of course, when one is articulate about Power Ball, a annual must-attend fundraiser for a Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, one understands that that swap celebration existence is going to be taken to gorgeous new heights.

That was positively a box final night, as guest and partners had their common minds blown during Power Ball XIX: Stereo Vision, presented by Max Mara. For VIPs, a night began with a surreal cocktail accepting that was infiltrated by pointed opening artists. As a in cognito performers did their work, guest enjoyed signature cocktails and startling bites supposing by Drake Catering.

But, a genuine art—and a genuine party—started afterward, as guest detected digital installations by Canadian artis Daniel Barrow, charged landscapes combined by Canadian/UK artist Kelly Richardson, and for a nostalgic, a DeLorean parked only outside.

Perhaps many considerable was a photography of Torrance Hall, a 17-year-old tyro from Virgina, and leader of a 2017 Max Mara Young Visionary Award, a grant presented by a luxe code to support (as a name suggests) immature artists. Hall’s photography “explores a attribute between a imagination, dreams and a bland prophesy of tellurian practice with dim and fantastical narratives,” he said. It was a work that felt right during home during Power Ball.

Aside from a mind-bending works of art (including a wall lined with marshmallows, since because not?), maybe a many intriguing component of Power Ball XIX were a guests. The character on arrangement was as sparkling as any scrutiny of swap reality. Well, almost.
